Scientific Program

Application & Fees

 

Tropical medicine department - Kasr El-Ainy hospitals.
Summer School: (3rd - 24th of August 2008)

Winter School: (10th - 29th of February 2008) 

 

Tropical Medicine Department is one of the most outstanding specialties in  Egypt. Tropical Medicine department in Kasr El-Ainy Medical School is characterized by its highly experienced professors. It is a huge department that is concerned with Egypt’s most widespread endemic diseases especially those affecting the GIT.

 

Scientific Program:

                                Daily from 09:00 am – 2:00 pm except Friday & Saturday.

Official language:

                                 English (Good command of English is a must)

Training consists of:

  • Outpatient clinics:
    Where you can approach cases of Schistosomiasis, Protozoal infections, Amoebiasis and more…
  • Examination:
    Hands-on examination of patients who are very cooperative during their stay in the inpatients. Sometime you'll be able to approach many cases which maybe complicated by:

    • Liver Cirrhosis
    • Jaundice
    • Splenomegaly
    • Portal Hypertension
    • Ascites
    • Lymphadenopathies
    • Chronic liver diseases

  • Lectures by department staff:
    Discussing related cases & techniques studied during the clinical round
  • Parasites in ACTION!
    For the first time, the course will offer students an access to the Parasitology department’s lab once per week. It’s an amazing opportunity where they will be able to watch microscopic slides of parasites causing the diseases encountered during the clinical round as well as some real specimen jars! In addition, professors of the Parasitology department will be tailoring a special 3-lecture course for the students discussing the major endemic tropical parasites; namely Schistosomiasis, Amoebiasis, Hydatidosis & more. This will offer students an opportunity to study the morphology, life cycle & other essential information about the parasites involved.

Accommodation

Accommodation is provided by the SSS and included in the fees... You will be staying in a 3 stars hostel in down town (5 minutes far from the hospital), you'll be served breakfast at the hostel and lunch at the hospital.
